From Barren Ground to Blessing: Josiah Mlambo’s Journey

I vividly remember the day I started working at the Life Centre. The grounds were a desolate landscape of rocks and rubble, a seemingly barren wasteland. Yet, as I carried heavy loads of debris and rubbish, my spirit was stirred. In my free time, I would return to the Centre, eager to lend a hand, no matter how small. This became my lifestyle – serving with passion, driven by a vision that seemed distant.

The project began with a daunting task – transforming a rocky, rugged terrain into a building site. Many doubted, and even us who worked tirelessly on the ground could not fathom how anything remarkable could emerge from this wilderness. Boulders dotted the landscape and skeptics murmured that we were attempting the impossible.

Apostle Joy, my spiritual father, would smile knowingly, his eyes shining with a deep conviction. He would show us pictures of a state-of-the-art building, and we would wonder if it was just a pipe dream.

But Apostle Joy’s vision was not one of fancy words or fleeting emotions – it was a God-given blueprint, etched in his heart and soul. As the days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, the impossible began to take shape. Yellow machines roared to life, their metal behemoths moving boulder upon boulder, reshaping the very earth itself. The groundwork was extensive, the costs astronomical, but we pressed on, driven by a shared purpose.

The building began to rise, its structure a testament to the power of faith and perseverance. We watched in awe as the walls went up, the roof took shape. And now, in October 2025, the Life Centre stands as a beacon of hope, a shining monument to what God can achieve through obedience.

For me, serving at the Life Centre has been more than just a job – it has been a journey of transformation. For thirty-five years, I had toiled, yet struggled to get ahead. I would apply for stands at my work place, only to be passed over, time and again. It was as if I repelled good fortune. But everything changed when I prioritised God’s business. We were taught that if we do God’s business, He will do ours. Scripture came alive in Job 32:11, and I claimed it as my own.

The breakthrough came when my company announced stands were available. I applied, alongside over one thousand others, including top management. And then, the unthinkable happened – my name was among the fifty selected.

It was a miracle!

God’s blessings cascaded down to my family, too. My son passed his O-levels in 2024 and secured a competitive bursary for higher education. The company covers his fees and uniforms – a godsend in a struggling economy.

Today, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for Apostle Joy’s leadership and the opportunity to serve. My life and family have been forever changed. From barren ground to blessing, I have witnessed God’s glory unfold. My story is a testament to the power of faith, obedience and the unwavering commitment to serve God.
