Day 1 Firm Foundation Conference Kwekwe Pastor Hove

The importance of knowing the God of your father

The opening day of the Firm Foundations Conference in Kwekwe led by Pastor Hove delivered a compelling message centered on spiritual identity, dominion and the importance of knowing God through both personal relationship and spiritual lineage.

Addressing a packed audience, Pastor Hove taught that true dominion does not begin with position, power, or visibility, but with knowing “the God of your father.” He explained that spiritual authority is rooted in relationship noting that faith must move beyond familiarity into personal conviction.

Drawing from the biblical account in Judges 6, Pastor Hove referenced Gideon, a man who perceived himself as insignificant yet was called by God a “mighty man of valour.” According to the teaching, Gideon’s transformation did not begin with military strength, but with an encounter that reshaped his understanding of both God and himself. “God does not define us by our limitations,” Pastor Hove stated, “but by His purpose.”

The message further connected this theme to Daniel 11:32, which declares that those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits. Pastor Hove highlighted that strength and achievement in the spiritual life are products of intimacy with God. He added that exploits flow naturally when believers are grounded in a clear understanding of who God is.

Referencing Hebrews 11:33, which speaks of those who “through faith subdued kingdoms and obtained promises,” he underscored that biblical faith is relational rather than theoretical. Pastor Hove noted that the victories recorded in Scripture were achieved not by perfect individuals, but by those who trusted God deeply and acted from that trust.

A significant portion of the address focused on the role of mentorship in building firm spiritual foundations. Pastor Hove explained that the repeated biblical phrase “the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob” reflects the importance of spiritual continuity and guidance. He cautioned against isolated faith, stressing that spiritual growth is often nurtured through alignment with Godly mentors.

“Mentorship does not replace personal relationship with God,” he said, “but it provides direction, accountability and stability.”

Biblical examples such as Paul and Timothy, Elijah and Elisha were cited as evidence that spiritual inheritance and guidance play a vital role in sustaining faith across generations.

The central message from Pastor Hove remains clear: lasting dominion is built on firm foundations. Knowing God personally, honouring spiritual lineage and walking under Godly mentorship were presented as essential pillars for believers seeking to live out faith that produces strength, purpose and impact.
