Embracing technology during the holiday season

By Joshua Chikomo

Technology can serve as a meaningful tool to enhance the holiday experience. From connecting with loved ones to “sharing devotional messages” and planning events, technology offers countless opportunities to make the season brighter and more impactful. Video calls, group chats, and social media platforms allow us to stay connected with loved ones. Whether it’s a virtual meeting or a family Bible study, technology bridges the gap and brings people closer.

Even when on holiday, technology can help you to continue worshipping God. Use technology to your advantage; set alarms to read the Bible and pray. If you are seeking more inspiration for prayer, then check out our father on SoundCloud, which has countless audiobooks. On this note you can stay connected with our father so that you never fall behind. You can just search for Joy Museba on Facebook, YouTube and SoundCloud, then follow the account with the most subscribers. However, take care to avoid scammers. Content on those platforms is regularly updated, so be sure to check for new uploads and revelations. In the event you don’t have access to the internet, feel free to drop by the church building, where you will be assisted.

When you are with the family and not sure what movies to use, you can use AI to recommend some movies to watch with your family; for example, ChatGPT and Meta AI can recommend some for you. You can also use AI to plan the holiday for you if you are not sure what to do or where to go, though I would recommend that you do your research, and you know what may be fun for you may not be fun to another. On this you can use apps to help you come up with recipes based on the ingredients that you would have that you may not have thought of. Examples of this would be Yummly, BigOven, and Recipe Keeper, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. You can use meal planning apps to help you plan for the week; examples would include Mealime. This one allows you to plan your meals for the week and generates recipes based on the ingredients that you have. Plan to Eat—this app helps you plan your meals, make grocery lists, and keep track of your recipes, and finally, AnyList.

Let technology help in making us better and in maintaining our character so that we will be better after the holiday compared to before the holidays.
