Walking in authority, living in provision
1.Check Your Altar
1 Kings 16:33 KJV
King Ahab provoked God more than any king before him. He built altars and temples for other gods. God does not share His glory. The first commandment is clear: you shall have no other gods before Me.
So ask yourself honestly: Is there another god in your life? Have you built an altar for Netflix, work, worry, or anything that takes God’s place? God gave you the job, but do you come home too tired for Him? If God is not first, you have provoked His anger. He wants no competition for your heart.
2.Understand the Authority of Prayer
1 Kings 17:1-3 KJV
Elijah, a man just like us, stood before Ahab and declared: “As the Lord God of Israel lives, there shall be no rain or dew these years except by my word.”
He did not say, “God said I will shut the heavens.” He spoke, and heaven responded. What kind of authority is that? It is the authority that comes through prayer. Prayer is what puts authority on your tongue so that when you speak, heaven answers.
Elijah prayed and God backed him up. When you know your God is bigger, you can confront anything. God told Elijah to hide by the brook Cherith. While others faced famine, Elijah was fed by ravens and drank from the brook. When people think things are difficult, you can flourish under God’s protection.
When the brook dried up, God did not let Elijah wonder. He sent him to a widow in Zarephath. I pray God’s favour looks on every area of your life. Before your well runs dry, God will bring a solution. He will not let you be caught by surprise. We serve a living God who does not run out of answers.
3.Partner with God’s Word for Abundance
The widow in Zarephath had only a handful of flour and a little oil. Elijah told her to feed him first and God said the flour and oil would not run out. In partnering with God’s word, she stepped into a dimension of abundance.
But her story did not end there. Her son fell sick and died. She did not give up. She went to Elijah. He lay on the child and prayed and God breathed life back into him.
If there is a situation in your life that looks dead—your marriage, your health, your business, your dream—let there be life. May God visit that place and revive it.
4.When God Speaks, Pray It Through
1 Kings 18:41-45 KJV
God told Elijah, “Go and present yourself to Ahab, for I will send rain.” But Elijah did not stop at the word. He went to Mount Carmel and prayed until fire fell and rain came.
God had spoken, but Elijah knew prayer is the solution that makes the word manifest. He prayed seven times. On the seventh time, his servant saw a cloud the size of a man’s hand. Elijah said, “I hear the sound of an abundance of rain.”
This is the level God is calling you to: when God speaks once, your spirit hears it twice. You start to hear the sound of what is coming before it arrives.
Others were eating while Elijah was praying. That is the difference between cold and hot.
Do you know more about TV characters than you know the names in your Bible? Every woman who walks in power has an altar—a place where, when you call, God answers.
Pray even when God has spoken. Abraham’s servant prayed for a wife for Isaac, even though he was sent by a wealthy man. Elijah prayed and he was just a man like us. If he prayed, why are you not?
5.Do not Pray Alone—Pray with the Holy Spirit
Elijah took his servant with him. That servant was spiritual. He went seven times to look for a sign. Persistence in prayer breaks yokes.
And here is the secret to persistent prayer: the Holy Spirit. He is your Helper. He gives you utterance when you do not know what to pray. When He enters you and is activated, He will do things in your life that you cannot do on your own.
If you need healing, tell Him. If you need a breakthrough, tell Him. When the Holy Spirit comes in, He stands in the gap for you.
